Why don’t you just tap on affirmations?

Find out why we choose particular words and phrases for EFT

It might seem counterintuitive at first but we start tapping on the negatives rather than affirmations. Here's why:

Acknowledging the Issue

Tapping on the negatives enables us to acknowledge and accept the emotions or issues that trouble us. It's like shining a light on the areas of our emotional landscape that we might have been avoiding or suppressing. By confronting these feelings head-on, we create space for healing and transformation.

    Tapping Into our Truth

When we tap on negatives, we're tapping into the truth of our emotions and experiences. Affirmations, while powerful, can sometimes feel like wishful thinking or denial if they contradict how we genuinely feel. By acknowledging the negative feelings first, we can then move towards healing and positive change more effectively.

      Holistic Healing Approach

EFT takes a holistic approach to emotional healing. It recognises that suppressing negative emotions can lead to physical and emotional imbalances. By tapping on negatives, we address the whole spectrum of our emotional experiences, promoting genuine healing and growth.

        Releasing Emotional Charge

Tapping on negative emotions helps us release their emotional charge. Think of these emotions as trapped energy within our energy system. By tapping on the acupressure points while acknowledging the negativity, we allow that energy to flow more freely, reducing the intensity of the emotions and bringing us a sense of relief.

        Addressing Resistance and Blocks

Often, we encounter resistance or emotional blocks when trying to change or improve our mindset. By addressing the negative aspects directly, we can unblock those barriers and clear the path for affirmations to have a more profound and lasting impact on our subconscious mind.

          Creating Opportunity for Positive Change

By tapping on negatives, we create space for positive change and transformation. Once we've released the emotional baggage associated with negative emotions, we can then introduce positive affirmations and beliefs that align with our desired emotional state.

            Empowerment Through Acceptance

Tapping on negatives fosters self-empowerment through self-acceptance. Instead of denying or suppressing our emotions, we embrace them with compassion. It is an important process that allows us to take ownership of our feelings and experiences, giving us greater control over our emotional well-being.

So, by acknowledging and tapping on the negatives, we open the door to healing, transformation, and genuine self-empowerment. Once we have cleared the negatives, we can tap on the affirmations to direct our thinking and feeling in a more positive direction.

Please keep in mind that for complex or deep-seated emotional issues, it's advisable to seek guidance from a trained EFT practitioner or a mental health professional. Please see my blog post on 'When should I use a certified EFT Practitioner'
