Find out when the best time to use EFT is
This will vary depending on individual preferences and needs but here are some times when tapping can be most beneficial.
When Emotions are Fresh
Tapping can be particularly effective when emotions are still fresh and intense. If you've just experienced a stressful event or a surge of strong emotions, tapping in the moment can help prevent these feelings from becoming overwhelming or getting stuck. I teach my clients techniques to ensure they can use EFT themselves when such events arise.
As Part of a Daily Routine
Many people find it helpful to incorporate tapping into their daily routine. It can be a proactive way to address any minor stresses or emotional tensions that accumulate throughout the day. A short tapping session as part of your self care in the morning or before bedtime can promote emotional balance and set a positive tone for the day or night.
Before Challenging Situations
Tapping can be a fantastic tool to prepare yourself emotionally before facing a challenging situation. Whether it's a job interview, a public speaking engagement, or any other anxiety-provoking event, tapping can help calm nerves and boost confidence. I have found this very effective with clients, particularly when they have a business task they feel uncomfortable or fearful about.
During Breaks or Rest Periods
Taking a moment during breaks or rest periods to tap can be an excellent way to release stress and recharge. Stress can build up during the day so that you find you become short tempered or tired. EFT is a quick and discreet technique that can be done virtually anywhere to bring you back to a place of calm.
When Feeling Overwhelmed
If you find yourself feeling overwhelmed or caught up in a whirlwind of emotions, that's a perfect time to tap. My clients tell me it feels so empowering to know you can navigate through the emotions more effectively with clarity and perspective gained from using EFT.
When Faced with Negative Triggers
Whenever you encounter situations, people, or memories that trigger negative emotions, tapping can provide relief and help you process these triggers in a healthier way. I find that sometimes clients aren't aware of these triggers until we talk through the patterns occurring in their life. Once identified and worked on, it is amazing the difference it makes to not have them trigger you anymore.
When Revisiting Past Traumas
If you're working on healing from past traumas, tapping can be a supportive practice to use during therapeutic sessions or when revisiting memories in a safe environment. There are a growing number of research studies on the effectiveness of EFT on trauma and PTSD.
Please keep in mind that for complex or deep-seated emotional issues, it's advisable to seek guidance from a trained EFT practitioner or a mental health professional. Please see my blog post on 'When should I use a certified EFT Practitioner'
